To the concerned people of Madagascar.
Last week I was asked for my reaction to the illegal trial that sentenced me to hard labour for life.
The abuse of our legal system continues. Facts are of little importance to the illegal regime of Andry Rajoelina, and sadly the our once independent legal system has been corrupted.
For the past 18 months since the tragic events of 7th February, 2009, I have supported the proposal for an independent fact finding enquiry. I have asked for both the EU and SADC to conduct this enquiry but the regime of Rajoelina has prevented this enquiry.
Why? Was it because the majority of those who died on 7th February, appear to have been shot from behind. Was it because the front of the Presidential Palace was pop-marked with bullet holes suggesting that the shots were fired from outside the Presidential compound - not from inside. Was it because I was not in the Presidential Palace at the time of the shootings?
For as long as this illegal regime remains clinging to power, the truth will remain hidden. The people of Madagascar need to be told the complete truth. When this happens, investment to rebuild our economy will flow. But until then - nothing.
Marc Ravalomanana .
