The ex-president's trial lawyers quit the hearing shortly after it began in Antananarivo, indicating that the process was being manipulated by Rajoelina administration to prevent Ravalomanana from participating in future elections.
It has not been smooth sailing for Rajoelina since he seized power and the island nation has been in turmoil for the last 18 months or so. Rajoelina continues to be shunned by the international community for seizing power in an undemocratic manner.
