JOHANNESBURG (AP) - Madagascar's ousted leader rejects his rival's proposal to speedily form a transitional government and warns it could jeopardize negotiations to resolve the Indian Ocean island's protracted political crisis.
Andry Rajoelina announced Thursday that he would form a multiparty government within days following an agreement signed by all parties except ousted President Marc Ravalomanana's.
Ravalomanana warned Friday from exile in South Africa that Rajoelina "should be careful that his unilateral actions do not prejudice the sensitive and ongoing negotiations."
Under the agreement, Rajoelina stays in power until elections but must choose a premier and government from candidates proposed by all parties. Ravalomanana's party does not want him to choose the premier.
