Madagascar PM says military will uphold rule of law

Nov 17 (Reuters) - Madagascar's Prime Minister Camille Vital called on Wednesday for discipline within the security forces after a group of officers in a barracks on the outskirts of the capital claimed they had seized power.
Flanked by the country's military top brass, Vital told reporters the security forces would ensure the rule of law was upheld after what appeared to be an attempt by dissidents to torpedo a referendum on a new constitution.
"We have already taken our responsibilities and call on the population to remain calm," Vital said. (Reporting by Alain Iloniaina; Editing by Richard Lough).
